Apple Cobbler
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2-2 c SR flour
cut in:1/2 c shortening, stir in 1/3c milk dough will be "wet"
melt 1/2 c butter in oblong pan and set aside
Syrup: Boil for 5 Min: 1 1/2 c sugar with 1 1/2 c water and set aside
Filling: 2 c chopped, cooked apples mixed with 1/2 c each raisins & nuts and 1 tsp cinnamon ( I use home-made dried apples & pre-soak and cook them in butter and brown sugar with a dash of cinnamon & then add 1 tsp Vanilla, Butter, Nut flavoring when I make this dish)
Put dough onto well floured surface and work in additional flour, about 1/2 c so that it can be rolled out. Roll into rectangle, fill, roll up jelly- roll-fashion and cut into 16 even slices (4 slices per row) Lay into melted butter, pour 2/3rd of syrup over this and bake@375 till golden brown( about 60 Min), adding rest of syrup after 30 min of baking time.
