Button Cookies
INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup Crisco shortening
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1tsp. vanilla
1tsp. baking soda
1tsp. baking powder
1/2tsp.salt
21/2c.flour
METHOD:
Mix all ingredients into a bowl mix well, dough should be slightly sticky, roll into a small ball and place on cookie sheet. Press with a fork dipped in flour (or dough will stick to fork) then with your thumb make an indentation on the center of the cookie fill with a dollop of jam or
a cherry (freshly canned strawberry jam is the best.)
