Oriental Beef
INGREDIENTS:
12oz of beef (trimmed of fat)
3 dozen Spring Onions Scallions)
4 Tablespoon of Soy Sauce
3 large Green Peppers (or 1ea Red, Yellow, Green)
4 Tablespoon of Peanut Oil*
3 Slices of Ginger (or use powder 1-2 tablespoon if fresh/new)
1/2 Bottle of Red Wine**
1 Tablespoon of sugar
2 tablespoon of Cornstarch
1 Cup Peanut oil
Best for flavor but can use sesame or even a regular vegetable oil. Cooking wine is just as good.. but the cook deserves the other half bottle to drink in the kitchen!
Procedure
1. Shed beef in about 1 inch length strips, mix with soy sauce and wine, peanut oil, cornstarch, and a good sprinkle of salt marinate for at least 1 hour. ( try to do it 24hrs for best results)
2. Clean Peppers and cut into strips from top to bottom.
3. Scallions (Spring Onions (same)) should be cut into about 3" lengths.
Heat Peanut oil in pan, fry beef and place into oven-proof dish and into a warm oven.
4. Heat another 3Tablespoons of oil in the pan. Stir fry Peppers first, then add ginger, sugar and Scallions
(Spring Onions). After the vegetables are cooked (don't overcook warm them through well though) Then according to taste you will need to test and either soy sauce, sugar or ginger. The overall flavor should be a taste of ginger (but, not overpowering)
Serve with white rice in a bowl with chopsticks for that final touch!
Serves: A family of 6 and even kids usually love it.
